Audio object works in Writer but not in pdf after export

I created an audio clip object in WORD 2007. I opened it using Libre Writer (1st time ever downloading Libre, so far I like it but this is a show stopper) The audio clip works perfect in WRITER. I EXPORTED to pdf and set permission password , denying everything including available for accessibility (and I did it again allowing accessibility) in either case, the audio clip object is not clickable. It does not work. How do I make an audio clip playable/clickable in Libre pdf? Likewise a video.

Please show us a PDF export file from the Word 2007, and a PDF reader software, that works such way as you expected it.

A PDF Reader software not contain any mediaplayer feature - if I know it exactly.

I did not say that the WORD 2007 file exported to ADOBE PDF worked.
I said, The WORD 2007 was imported to LIBRE and the audio clip object worked just fine in Libre.
I said that when LIBRE exported to PDF, the audio object stop working.
I am asking the community to tell me if Libre is also inept. Libre is also incapable of
creating a pdf and maintaining the functionality of audio and video objects? is that true?

So th epoint of Libre, aparently, is to find a free ripoff of MS OFFICE, but not improve upon MS OFFICE. IS that right?

Cause if it is not right, then why is Libre incapable of making audio and video objects work in a pdf, just like they work in the Libre design environment. I don’t need a bunch of excuses. Just cut to the chase.

Can Libre make audio and video objects work in pdf format? Quite a simple answer. not show me a pdf creator that did it so I can copy it. Can Libre do it , now, or not?

Please upload sample files here.

i APPRECIATE that you want to examine and help.
Thank you.
But it is entirely unnecessary for me to provide samples.
You can create an audio object and export a pdf yourself.
You can see the audio object does not play.
If you expect it should play, or your test does play, then

  1. simply answer me YES, Libre will export to pdf an operable audio object
  2. you post your test and prove Libre worked for you.

As for the facilitator, you have some real winners, or whiners, on this site, a Mike K emailed me: He apparently has no knowledge, and rambles on instead, because he has no idea whether Libre can or cannot export operable audio objects to pdf. Why do people go into communities if they don’t have anything to contribute? And no one knowledgable has offered a simple YES or NO.

My question is not that tough.

Libre test.docx (186.4 KB)

open this in Libre
double click it
then export to pdf
double click the object in pdf

Thanks for the attached sample file…

I suggest you to try/use the hyperlink technology with linked (but not embedded) mediafiles. It works for me. You need use “Relative hyperlinks” option.
Try it: download my attached file, rename it Play.zip. (I can not upload .zip archive and media files directly here.)
Unzip the packaged files into same directory, and try the hyperlinks in the ODF and in the PDF file.
These sample files were created in LO 7.5.7.

Adobe, when creating pdf did not include LibreOffice API. So, if you wish to use a feature like this YOU need to use a feature pdf/Adobe can use like Zizi suggested or you need to integrate your own Javascript in the pdf. But for this there is no direct support in LibreOffice.

Simply no.
.
StarOffice/OpenOffice/LibreOffice originates in times where there were several office suites competing. Some concepts differ very much (Integration of base, regular expressions, multiple languages for scripting, styles in Writer, portability between different OS, API). I actually switched at work because of better handling for csv and dBase-Files.
.
If you search for a clone of MS-Office search elsewhere, even if LibreOffice does a nice job on imports and even tries to make some of the vba-stuff available.
