Autocorrect clears direct formatting

Hi, I really like the way that I can use the autocorrect options in LibreOffice Writer to insert symbols quickly and easily (I using LibreOffice for Lexicography/Linguistics).

However, when I program a character, after the autocorrect occurs, my direct formatting is erased. This is very annoying - why aren’t subsequent characters in the same font/size/etc? It seems to destroy the point of having an autocorrect at all.

Is there any way to fix this? Thanks.
