Automatic numbering of references for juridic numbering

Suppose a new Article is inserted between before Article 1, so Article 1 is now Article 2 and Article 2 is now Article 3. The problem is the expression in bold is now incorrect, it should read “As written in Article 2.2” not 1.2 Is there a way to renumber references to Articles automatically when an Article is automatically renumbered?

You get “synchronised” references by not using literal citation (i.e. typing textually 1.2). Instead, you Insert>Cross-reference. A dialog opens with Cross-references active.

• select Headings in Type
• the list of headings is displayed in Selection; click on the target heading
• the kind of cross-reference is chosen in Refer using; click on Chapter for the article number
• Insert then Close

Of course, this works only if your article headings are styled with Heading n paragraph style.
