"Automatic update of external links has been disabled" despite the link being in a comment

I do have a link in a comment, which in my understanding does not ever need ‘updating’.
Why would LibreOffice Calc try to update something that is not part of the active content of the spreadsheet?

Searching for Automatic update in the help yielded no result.
Searching for external link in the help yielded no result.
