Occasionally my Windows 10 restarts while I’m sleeping or something, I’m not sure if it crashes or updates or what, but anyway I’ll launch LibreOffice and it goes into autorecovery, but often times the most recent backup will be like 10 days old, even though I have it set to autosave every 10 minutes. What do you suppose the dealio is?

Windows is flaky, turn off Fast Start and shut it down properly every night. If you see a notice asking when to restart, close everything and restart immediately, Windows updates often make things not work properly until restart

Save your files regularly and create versions as you make major changes. Save a copy elsewhere.

the BAK copy is from when you opened the file so if you damage your file this session you can revert to state at previous session

the every 10 minutes is for the recovery file so if you have a crash, hopefully you won’t lose more than ten minutes of work.
