BASE & Java Installation Does Not Work on MAC OSX Yosemite

Hi. I can’t seem to get the LibreOffice Base to work on my Mac running Yosemite 10.10. (iMac early 2009). Everything else seems to be working fine, except for Base. I keep getting the error message:

"The connection to the data source “New Database” could not be established. No Java Installation could be found. Please check your installation."

I downloaded Java for OS X 2015-001 from the Apple Support page (link is Download Java for OS X 2017-001), and that was seemingly installed without any problems. I then restarted the computer and opened of Base, and keep getting the same error message.

Should I be installing the Java found in the Apple Support Page? Or, should I be installing the Java from this link: https://www.java.com/en/download/mac_download.jsp.

If it doesn’t matter which link I download Java from, then how do I get Java to run so that I can use Base?

Thank you.

It doesn’t work on IMacOS Sierra either! You can load every manual jre or jdk in existence, one after the other, (and I have) and it still has no effect on base.

Hi Flipland

Q47584 is the latest update on this that I can find for you.

There is also a manual Java download page for Adobe currently Version 8 Update 60, August 18, 2015). That is especially useful for Windows LO users using 32-bit LO on a 64-bit Windows (Java version needs to match LO version).

It is possible to have more than one Java version installed in the OS. LO is then intended to pick the Java versions up from your OS & show them to you so that you can select which to use. I currently have 3 versions under Linux (!):

If this helps then please tick the answer (:heavy_check_mark:)

…and/or show you like it with an uptick ()

In Mac OSX the right path is LibreOffice > Preference > Advance.
