Base needs 64bit JRE

I have windows 10. 64bit machine. I have installed the Java 8 update 231. I have read other questions/answers but it has become a circular. I have installed and uninstalled several times. I am getting no place. Where do I go from here? Thanks for your help in advance.

After installing Java, did you go to Tools | Options | LibreOffice | Advanced and 1) ensure that Use a Java runtime environment is checked; and 2) ensure that a Java environment is shown and the radio button next to it is selected?

  1. Java runtime environment is checked.
  2. Java environment is not shown. When I click add, I really don’t know where to go.

Here is the path from the java control panel C:\Program Files (x86)\Java\jre1.8.0_231\bin\javaw.exe

When I am in the Control Panel and click Find - I get a message window 'Java needs to know the locations of installed Java Runtime Environments.

I am really lost. Any additional help is greatly appreciated.

You have a 32 bit Java version - you will need a 64 bit version if your LibreOffice is 64 bit.
