Hi, I’m a newbie to the forum but been using Libreoffice for some time, mainly Calc. I have a small fledgling business and need a basic accounting package. I very much hoped Id find an ‘easy’ Base template for this but so far only found ‘PLA’. I’m not sure this really fits my needs. Does anyone know of any alternatives??

You have a “fledgling business”, presumably you want it to grow and at some stage you will need a proper accounting package. Maybe best to start with a commercial accounting package and save the pain later. Consider also that there are local requirements for accounts and commercial accounting packages should cover these.
Ask your accountant, they might say that an online accounting system works better for them, or they might suggest a commercial offering that ties in with their system. You’ll save money by asking them now.
