Batch update of Templates

Is there a way to update the templates via the commandline by just copying them into the directory? I have over 100 templates and don’t want to waste time every time that I install LO on a new system.

One way could be to prepare a profile, wich you use for all new installs. This would also allow to keep settings identical on start.

There is also a help/wiki-page on deployment (the recomended way is a config extension further explained in a pdf).

PS: I will change your tagging, as base refers to the Database component of LibreOffice.

The easiest way is to copy the templates in directory of user profile templates.
(Safer with LibreOffice closed)
Check the templates directory in Tools > Options > Paths Templates

Your question is not fully clear.

By “template” do you mean documents with extension .ott, .ots, .otp, … i.e. document specially handled by LO to create new untitled documents preloaded with text and styles?

If so, I have my custom templates in a dedicated directory and I patch Tools>Options, LO>Paths to add my custom directory to the Templates definition.

If you mean common pre-cooked documents you open, modify and save under another name (in order not to overwrite them), there is no handy solution.

Assuming you are talking of templates which are manged via
>File>Templates>Manage Templates (default shortcut Shift+Ctrl+N):

  • You can not manage the shared templates this way which are part of the installation for "All Users".
  • For the templates contained in your user profile do as @bantoniof told.
  • Be sure to understand that these templates are only shown with their file names (without the extension) as long as you didn’t define a template name via their context menu item Rename in the template manager. *"Names"* you define this way are not passed to the file system, but are assigned to these templates only in the registrymodifications.xcu.
