Bullets and Numbering, Outline: what's the point of showing a suffix after a bullet character?

Open the Bullets and Numbering dialog and select the Outline tab. Look at the preview of the two outline formats:

  • 2nd format in the 1st row: Level 5
  • 4th format in the 2nd row: Level 3

In both cases, the bullet character is followed by a character (suffix). The user interface does not allow editing it in the dialog box or display it in the actual list.

Hence the question as in this topic title: what is it for?

:man_shrugging: obviously a bug; do you suspect something else here?

The bug has apparently been carried over from OpenOffice.
