I’m working in an original Microsoft Excel file in which I’ve formatted some cells to convert dates to mm/dd/yyyy. In Calc, when I enter text into some of these cells, Calc adds the extra text “ebook” at the end of the text I enter. When I erase the unwanted text, Calc formats the date correctly. How do I prevent this added text? Is this a formatting issue?
It will be much easier to understand if you upload a sample file and indicate what text and in which cell you enter it.

The same text? Could it be AutoInput (menu Tools)? Dates and text or dates as text?

Sorry for the delay in responding. I’m setting up a new iMac, replacing one that’s 9 years old, so I downloaded the Apple Silicon LibreOffice. I was using the Intel-based LibreOffice. I’m hoping when I install it, the new iMac and different LibreOffice will solve the problem. I’ll report back here after I run some tests.

One other possibility is AutoCorrect but in this case it seems less likely.
I’ve finished setting up a new M4 iMac. The problem occurred again, so I reformatted the problem cells to the date format I want to use. We’ll see how it goes.
I’m inputting “7/10,” for example, and getting what appears in the screenshot. I then remove “ebook,” and the entry appears correctly as “7/10/26.”
As @LeroyG suggested, post an example file; without seeing the existing formatting, it’s impossible to suggest a solution to the problem.
