This time I’m on LibreOffice 26.2.0.3 on MacOS 15.5
It appears that if I want to automatically change font colour based on a cell’s value, I can do so by using custom styles, following Applying Conditional Formatting and https://wiki.documentfoundation.org/images/d/d1/LibreOffice_Calc._Conditional_formatting_guide_EN.pdf
I tried it. I created my first style using “new style from selection”. Unfortunately that first style I created was too similar to the next one I was going to create. I needed to change its font colour.
I couldn’t see a way to change that, so I tried to delete the style. Unfortunately I could never get an option to delete a style from the context menu in the side panel brought up by Styles-Manage Styles
I found postings asking for help with this from around 2017. The usual cause seemed to be that the style was in use somewhere in the document. Sure enough, the cell I’d used for “new style from selection” had that style, as did some of its neighbours. It seemed that I could individually switch them to the style named “default” using that Manage Styles thing, which was also the only way I found to determine a cell’s style. But I still couldn’t get an option to delete the style.
I discovered that the find and replace dialogue could be used to change styles, but it reported that there were no cells using that style.
Finally I noticed that I hadn’t saved the file for at least 20 minutes, and abandoned all changes since the last save. That got rid of the custom style I wanted to delete and replace.
I’m a bit nervous about trying again, at least in any document I care about, given the difficulties I encountered.
Most likely I’m once again missing something. But what is it this time?
