How do I use data for a drop down list that resides in an external file? I.e., FILE A looks into FILE B for a list of cities.

Just to clarify, are you using ‘Data Validity’ and a wishing to have drop-down selection list - with the selections held in another file ? Is that file completely seperate to LO calc or part of LO calc ?
As far as I know (…and no doubt someone will be along to correct me if I’m wrong…) the data for the drop down list must appear on the same sheet as the original cell.
If you have the data file on another LO calc sheet, you could copy that sheet into LO then set some cells on your current sheet to mirror the required data cells on the new sheet.
If it’s not a LO calc sheet, then other then copy/paste -ing the data to the LO sheet, then I don’t know.
It would be in a separate sheet (LO calc file). I should have explained more fully. I have a list of cities and zipcodes. I want to share this “list” (file) with other spreadsheets.
