Calc fails on trying to open large workbook

Hi, All. This is getting very annoying. Until 2 weeks ago, I had no problem opening my CostOfMoney spreadsheet/workbook. It is book with 17 sheets and is about 16Mb in size. Two weeks ago I added the 17th sheet, and now when opening, it instead just closes LibreOffice without any error messages. THis is similar to a problem I’ve had with this workbook forever: I add new lines to the sheets, then enter one piece of data to the line, and copy/paste the formulae from the previous line, and LO closes with no error message. I was being forced to do the copy/paste using OpenOffice.

Any ideas? Too many sheets? Too large a file?

Please attach a sample file, reduce the size as much as possible without private information,
and paste the information in Menu/Help/About LibreOffice, there is a copy icon.
.
Please test in safe mode, Menu/Help/Restart in Safe Mode

Hi. Thanks for the response. Alas, I cannot reduce the size of the file, since I cannot open it, which I guess is not a problem, since I cannot attach a sample file because I cannot find the copy icon under Menu/Help/About.

Safe mode will not open the file, when the open process gets to the “adapt row height” it freezes for a second, then closes completely, just as when I try to open it normally.

Depending on LibreOffice version it could be tdf#144151 or tdf#124098

That icon only copies the version information, if that is what you wanted, here it is…

Version: 25.8.1.1 (X86_64)
Build ID: 54047653041915e595ad4e45cccea684809c77b5
CPU threads: 8; OS: Windows 10 X86_64 (build 19045); UI render: Skia/Vulkan; VCL: win
Locale: en-US (en_US); UI: en-US
Calc: CL threaded

“Adapt row height” is just one of the <here’s where we are in the open process> messages. I have no idea what you are suggesting with the tdf#…

They are links to bug reports which may (or not) be relevant to your problem.

I see that you have a Vulkan active. I suggest that you click Tools - Options - LibreOffice - View, tick the box Force Skia software rendering and allow LibreOffice to restart.

If it is a graphics rendering glitch that is causing the issue then that should fix it.
