Calc Transpose has suddenly stopped working properly

I am on Win10 Pro - recently upgraded to LO 7.5 .0.3 and had no problems before with copy and paste special (column to row) with transpose ticked and Values only highlighted in the Paste Special dialog box and pasting only text and numbers.

It is now very flaky, works sometimes but most of the time when I paste (after highlighting cells and right click copy with the mouse) into a cell in an adjacent sheet nothing happens or this Information Widow comes up with “Protected cells can not be modified.”. No cells are protected in the ods.
Sometimes when I right click to paste, the Paste Special box comes up saying:
Source Unknown and under Selection: Unformatted text and Use Text import dialog.

Exited all the clipboard managers as they sometimes copy text as an image from Calc.

Very confusing and frustrating as the only work around is to paste normally and then manually move the cells (sometimes up to 50) into a row.

Also when the paste fails and after trying a couple of times , Calc stops responding and after forcefully terminating the program, the spreadsheet has to be restored and I lose all the modifications made - which means having to remember to save after each one.

I have also reset the user profile to default but it does not seems to have had any effect on restoring the Paste Special > Transpose to a working, reliable facility.

Any help much appreciated.

Please upload your ODF type sample file here.

Hello Zizi64, can’t uploadad sample as the copied text cells are coming from my main spreadsheet to a new blank one.where the Info box gets dismissed as soon as I press OK I enclose a couple of screenshots: for when I click to paste special

The result:
protectedcwlls-transpose.ods - LibreOffice Calc

And then when I try again this comes up:
textimpoty - transpose.ods - LibreOffice Calc

I really think that for some reason the internal copy is copying the cells as an image instead of text/numbers.

The feature works fine in my LO 7.5.0 portable version on Win 10 with two newly created (source and target) .ods files.
.
Therefore the problem may located in your

  • source file (please upload it here)
  • target file (is the default templete protected? (please upload an empty, newly created .ods file here)
  • clipboard (are you using some clipboard manager even it is the built-in Win10 clipboard manager?)

Hello Zizi64, sorry for the delay in replying to you.

The source file is huge and so not easily uploaded, but you are probably right that it’s where some corruption has occurred. Will try to figure it our and if not will get back to you.

Many thanks.
