Calc update from data file

I appears google sheets can automatically update data stored in a linked file so that when new data is stored it is loaded into cells and graphed.

Can Libraoffice do the same and if so how do I set it up?

Have you tried the
Sheet - External links
feature? It works for me with Named Ranges.

  • Download my sample files into same directory.
  • Set the “Save relative hyperlinks” in your LibreOffice. Relative and Absolute Links
  • Open both of two files.
  • Modify and some data in the SourceFile.
  • Save the SourceFile.
  • Wait for the refreshing of the graph (the Data resreshing it is set to 20 s)
  • Check the Edit - External links Edit External Links
  • Try to create your own link. External Links

LinkToData.ods (15.7 KB)
SourceFile.ods (9.8 KB)

When I try to download my sample files (Firefox) they have 0 byte size. I can open them, but they are empty… Why?
…
The disk has been full… Never happened such things before… I just deleted many-many downloads and then the download works again. The Firefox not showed this reason (There was non informative “0 Size”; message “Unsuccessful” ) But the Crome was able to warn me about the real reason: the disk is full)

Like any good programmer, I have everything on my hard drive… except free space… (c) from the Internet
