Recently after updating LibreOffice, I noticed this ugly grey bar on the right of my window with a single button. I was wondering if there was some way to make it disapear. Picture for context. Running on Linux Mint.
If you open a new document you won’t see the Close button (× icon); but this will create a new task in the taskbar. So I think that this is not a good option.
Maybe if this button can have the same colors that the menu bar…
Thank you! It turns out not having a theme was the cause of the ugliness. For future reference, if anyone else has this problem, themes are found at LibreOffice homepage → Tools → Options → LibreOffice → Personalization
Additional note, installing the latest version via flatpak, instead of using the older version 4:24.2.7-0ubuntu0.24.04.3) supplied by my distro’s system package, also solved this problem. I think that is legitimately the best solution.
Is the “ugly grey bar” the one with various icon buttons for styles, gallery, navigator, …?
If so, it is called the Sidebar. You can hide it with View
>Side bar
or Ctrl+F5. Same command to show it again.
Considering the usefulness of information provided by the Sidebar, I’d rather recommend you keep visible with either the Styles or Navigator pane visible.
It isn’t. You can check LeroyG’s answer to see what exactly it is.
