I don’t like/trust any of the OpenID companies. Is it possible to post a question anonymously?
The direct answer is No. However you can post as Anonymous (i.e. by checking the “ask anonymously” box) but you still need to login with your OpenID.
I think this is currently the best possible combination. You don’t have to display your name if you don’t want to, but you can’t post without logging in.
Since the idea is that the person asking the question at least contributes back by selecting the answer s/he considers correct, it makes sense that the person is the same (even if this isn’t displayed).
In the future some company independent solution such as BrowserID is possibly the best solution for the login/privacy problem.
That still doesn’t resolve your issue with OpenID. Third-party-independent login with site-local username and password would.
There is standard local login option in Askbot software AskLibO is built with. Whether it will be activated is up to administrators.
