I typed a simple document and I want to save/save as. It shows me a dialogue box reading Writer Error. Please advise.

Which version? Upgrades proceed at different pace on different platforms and users are free to download from version providers which again update according to their will. Provide exact number with its four digits.
Into which directory do you want to save? Have checked that this directory is write-enabled (not protected as read-only)? Have you some anti-virus software which erroneously identify LO as a threat?
