Cannot Select Options in Formatting Popup

I am using Windows 11 and LibreOffice 26.2, and I’ve just today found that I can no longer select options in the formatting popups. When I highlight text and then use “Format” and then “Character,” the popup appears as normal, but is then stuck in only the border option. I cannot select any other choices.

Here you can see that the text is selected and the formatting popup is available, but I cannot select them.

This is true of all the popups, whether Character, Paragraph, or even the Edit Style popup.

STEPS TAKEN

I have tried to repair the installation. This had no effect.

I have uninstalled, reset, and reinstalled the installation. This had no effect.

Try starting LibreOffice in safe mode; click Help > Restart in safe mode > Continue in Safe Mode. Do the dialogues work OK? It might be an issue with the user profile
.

I have tried the safe mode option, and the issue persists. I looked at the page for submitting a bug, and I’m not sure if there’s more I should do here.

I’m putting a snipped image of the LibreOffice version I’m using.

Should I try to submit a bug report? I’m very new to all this–just started using LibreOffice seriously this year.

New Update:

I figured out that I can tab through to the panel that I cannot select with my mouse clicks. I can then use the up/down arrows to choose the preferred tab of the context menu.

So this feels like it’s some kind of input error with my mouse. Bizarre.

Here are some suggestions

  • Click Start menu - Power - Restart (not power of), allow Windows to restart and check again
  • Go to Control Panel, find LibreOffice, right click it and select Repair. It sometimes helps.
  • Uninstall 26.2, install 25.8 and turn off automatic updates for it. Is the problem resolved? If so then you could post a bug report for 26.2. If not then maybe something else is interfering with LibreOffice
