Can't create Lock file when opening LibreOffice file

I am in the process of setting up a Windows 11 laptop. I’ve tried both LibreOffice 7.4 and 7.5 with the same effect. When opening a file, I get an error message which reads:
“The lock file could not be created for exclusive access by LibreOffice, due to missing permission to create a lock file on that file location or lack of free disk space. Specify Notify to open read-only and get notified when the document becomes editable.”

After clicking Notify, I can then select Edit, but when I go to save the file I get another Error message which reads:
“Error saving the document Zero-CP-WF: Object not accessible. The object cannot be accessed due to insufficient user rights”

During the early part of setting up this laptop, LibreOffice was working fine, but somewhere during the setup process, I started getting these errors. Can anyone suggest a solution? Thanks

Perhaps you need to whitelist LibreOffice with whatever antivirus you are using.

The error message is clear. You try to save the file to a directory where you have permission to write (otherwise the document would be opened read-only) but no permission to create files.
Open some text editor, type something and try to save the new file in the same directory. You might get a similar error from the text editor.

Thanks for the suggestion. I can create a text file in the same folder using Notepad, edit it, and save it without issues. The problem seems to relate to LibreOffice and not other file editing programs.

Then check your snake oil (“anti virus”). Turn it off and see if it makes a difference,

Thanks. I see some progress. Here’s what I did to Malwarebytes:
Turned off all 4 protections and now Libreoffice works
Turned Web protection back on and it still works
Turned malware protection back on and it still works
Turned ransomware protection back on and it still works
Turned exploit protection back on and it fails as before
This is great news, but I need to figure out how to enable exploit protection and keep LibreOffice working?

Ask malwarebytes? https://support.malwarebytes.com/hc/en-us/articles/360038479234-Exclude-detections-in-Malwarebytes-for-Windows

Maybe post a bug report with them.

Thanks for the suggestion. Unfortunately, I had already entered LibreOffice into allowed list, but that had no effect on issue.

I just seemingly solved the problem by unchecking the box opposite LibreOffice in its list of protected applications. I may be good to go, although I’m not sure why Malwarebytes had issues with LibreOffice and if other LibreOffice users are encountering similar problems

Thanks for everyone’s help. Looks like I’m good to go
