Can't cut and paste formula in Calc, only text import dialog appears

I’m running into a new problem with

Version: 24.2.5.2 (X86_64) / LibreOffice Community
Build ID: 420(Build:2)
CPU threads: 20; OS: Linux 5.15; UI render: default; VCL: gtk3
Locale: en-US (en_US.UTF-8); UI: en-US
Ubuntu package version: 4:24.2.5~rc2-0ubuntu0.22.04.1~lo1
Calc: threaded

even if I use libreoffice --safe-mode I cannot natively copy and paste more than 1 row of cells. Previously this was not a problem. Currently, if I highlight cells and copy cells from more than 1 row, when I try to paste (Ctrl-v or Edit -> Paste) I get a text import dialog.

It might be irrelevant, but when I get the import dialog it defaults to UTF-16 encoding, but as you can see above my locale is set for UTF-8, which is what I would expect. I’m running MATE 22.04

Has anyone else had this issue or know how to trouble shoot it?

you mean even from within Calc itself ? :thinking:

what do you have in your System settings > Region & Language ?

For the computer itself I have the following

$ locale
LANG=en_US.UTF-8
LANGUAGE=en_US
LC_CTYPE="en_US.UTF-8"
LC_NUMERIC="en_US.UTF-8"
LC_TIME="en_US.UTF-8"
LC_COLLATE="en_US.UTF-8"
LC_MONETARY="en_US.UTF-8"
LC_MESSAGES="en_US.UTF-8"
LC_PAPER="en_US.UTF-8"
LC_NAME="en_US.UTF-8"
LC_ADDRESS="en_US.UTF-8"
LC_TELEPHONE="en_US.UTF-8"
LC_MEASUREMENT="en_US.UTF-8"
LC_IDENTIFICATION="en_US.UTF-8"
LC_ALL=
`
I don't see a GUI interface for 'System Settings' nor 'Region & Language'

what’s your desktop manager?
Region & Language

Thank you for your continuing help on this.

I am not sure if this is the same as ‘desktop manager’, but I’m running MATE, so

$ echo $DESKTOP_SESSION
mate

According to MATE-tweak, I’m using Marco (Built-in XPresent) as my windows manager.

Does this help?

seems there are a few copy/paste issues around mate…

do you just have problems with calc ?

Thanks for the link on the bug, though it seems CLI related. I am also having issues with impress where I select a column box from a slide and when I paste it it pastes it as an image. (I think, will double check, but either way it behaves differently than in the past.)

FWIW,

$ apt search clipboard | grep installed

Well this is embarrassing, but I just rebooted my machine and the problem seems to have disappeared. Yippie. My apologies for taking your time with this. I nonetheless appreciated it.
