I’m trying to create a linear trendline to fit a scatterplot of some data, but for some reason the “Insert Trend Line” option is greyed out. I followed all the instructions on this page, but it still won’t work. This seems like a pretty straightforward process, any ideas on where I went wrong?

Figured it out, you not only have to double click on the chart, but also click on the data points.
Instead click on data points you can select series from the drop-down-list “Select Chart Element”. The “Insert Trendline” option is then in menu Insert or context menu. Get context menu by pressing Shift+F10 or pressing context menu key (between AltGr and Ctrl).
