I am using a MBP M1 on Tahoe 26.5. I downloaded LibreOffice via homebrew and I am using version 26.2.5.2
I have attempted to insert an .avi, mp4, webm, and mv4 video into my slides but none seem to work. Is this an issue specific to MacOS? I am not sure what I am doing wrong

The homebrew version might not be as fully functional as the download from the LibreOffice download page, due to the respective build environments. I can check with my LO download, but you should also know that video support on macOS with LO has always been a bit hit or miss.
This works for me on a M1 macOS Tahoe 26.5.2 with
LibreOffice (from the LibreOffice download page, not Homebrew)

So far, I have succeeded with AVI, MP4, M4V, via drag and drop from the Finder onto an Impress slide, or via the Insert menu entry, and then launching the slideshow plays the video sequence on that slide.
Confirming that this is now broken with

The preview of the video now doesn’t display, and when launching the slideshow only a blank slide (with whatever template additions you might have) is visible, the whole video frame is not displayed.
This is on an unsaved Impress file.
This is a regression over 26.2.4.2.
If you open a bug report on bugzilla, I can confirm it. Sigh.
In the meantime, if you want to insert videos into Impress and have them play, you would need to go back to 26.2.4.2.
If I save the Impress file, and reopen it, I get a message:
“The document contains one or more links to external data.
Would you like to modify the document and update all of the links to recover the latest data ?”
If I answer “Yes”, I get the preview of the video and it now plays when launching the slideshow.
I can only hope that this is some unintended consequence of somebody’s brainchild, because if it is deliberate, it is a massive PITA.
FWIW, the behaviour seems to already be reported (albeit with regard to audio files) in tdf#172918.
A fix has been pushed to master / daily builds, and backported to the future 26.2.6 branch, but this fix is reported as not resolving the issue.
I’m not sure how to open a bug report on Bugzilla, but I can try later today! I am likely less technologically skilled than most folks who frequent this website. What would the purpose of having you confirm a bug report?
