Worked all day on this using LibreWriter 6.3 and saved as .docx and now it won’t open. Keeps saying corrupted file even after the inbuilt fix offered. Tried converting to .odt using zamzar.com but it also saw it as corrupted. Did nothing wrong, just normal save.
This won’t help you now, but it is recommended to always save your documents in native format (.odt etc) and only export them as foreign format (.docx etc) when needed to share with others.
Upload the corrupted file and may be someone could fix it by investigating the xml files within the .docx zip container (provided the zip container itself isn’t corrupted).
Thank you so much for your help. Where would I upload the file to, in order that someone investigate as you describe please?
To upload a file, log in and return to your question, click on Edit and look for the paperclip icon (as in “attachment”). Click on that and follow the instructions. You might need more Karma for that privilege though – Maybe someone else can help with that.
Thank you again…but this seems like anyone out there could have a go at it but it has confidential info inside? There seems to be no way to get direct to LibreOffice to fix it?
If it was saved as .docx, can you open it with MS Word? If so, save it again but with a different file name and open with LibreOffice, being careful to save as .odt.
