Can't record macros or assign to keystroke on Mac

Technology is wonderful when it works. I’m running a macbook pro with Sequoia 15.3.2 with Intel processor. I’m using LO 24.8.6.2 (X86_64).

Recording, editing, and assigning macros to keystrokes has been a very important aspect of using LO. Under windows. I exported the macros from windows and imported it on the mac. I’ve done this many times before, though only on windows machines.

Now on Mac, when I click the record button, nothing happens.

I can select existing ones from the Basic Macro Organizer and run them.

I can go into the IDE and edit and run them.

One different old key assignment works, though I don’t know how. I can’t assign a different existing macro to a keystroke. (Can’t reproduce the same function on mac that always worked on windows.)

The macro that I used often inserts HH:MM selects it, bolds it, and adds highlight.

I can go through the process of assigning to keystrokes, I can see the assignment in the customize window. But when I execute the keystroke – it does something but I don’t know what. When finished, one word space is left selected.

I only tried one of them in calc just now and it worked. Will test more but I’m out of time at the moment
