First time user of LO. I understand that there’s a downloadable help file, but I can’t seem to find it. Your guidance welcomed!

You don’t state what version of LO you are using or you OS. Also important here is the language you are using.
For current versions (6.0.3 & 5.4.6) you can find it on the main download page as Help for offline use located by the appropriate version. Make sure the version, language and OS are the same as your installed LO. Main page → Libe Office Download.
If you are using an older version you will find it here → Index of /libreoffice/old. Select your version then OS & then select help pack for your language.
