Can't work with LO files

I run Debian 13 with KDE Plasma 6.3.6. Installed 25.8.1 from Debian repository.

  • I cannot open any file, associated with LO: odf, ods, txt, docx . I always get a filter.
  • I cannot even create a calc or write file, in LO, all options except Database are greyed out.
  • If I start e.g. calc or writer from the commandline: kf.kio.filewidgets.kfilefiltercombo: KFileFilterCombo::setCurrentFilter: Could not find file filter KFileFilter(MIME patterns: QList() File patterns: QList("*") label: “All files”)

I have reinstalled, removed the profile, donwgraded to 25.2.3.2. Nothing helps.

I really could need some help.

Seems you didn’t install all packages of LibreOffice. If only Base (the database module) isn’t greyed out it is missing all other modules.

You installed all from Debian repository. If you install from LibreOffice org there are 3 packages, which had to be downloaded.

  1. Programm modules, ca. 230 MB
  2. Langpack for LO, ca. 17 MB
  3. Helppack for LO, ca. 3 MB

Have a look in the app for software of your system. If all you installed for LibreOffice is much smaller than this you have to look for other packages. Can’t help for Debian, because I use OpenSuSE with rpm-packages.

Thank you, @RobertG, you’ve saved my day.

I’ve installed the components via Discover from Debian but they’ve only added up to ca. 80 MB. Somethin was clearly missing, even apt didn’t show any unresolved dependencies. I’v now removed the existing insall and downloaded the LO flatpak which runs smoothly.
