Cell value greater than

I have created a spreadsheet using calc, but need help with the following.

If I have a cell whose value is variable, I want to compare it with a fixed value cell and if the variable is greater than the fixed value, change the cell background colour to red

Can this be done?

Yes - conditional formatting is the tool you would use.
