Change background of active cell when entering data

We transcribe weather data from historic Navy logbooks using Calc with the logbook image as a background. It is desirable to have a font that shows up well against the background. However, sometimes this means that the font cannot be easily seen when entering data. Is there a way to change the white background of the cell to a different colour?

Example

Thank you

I’m on a very recently updated version of Windows 11.

Version: 7.5.9.2 (X86_64) / LibreOffice Community
Build ID: cdeefe45c17511d326101eed8008ac4092f278a9
CPU threads: 4; OS: Windows 10.0 Build 22000; UI render: Skia/Raster; VCL: win
Locale: en-CA (en_CA); UI: en-US
Calc: CL threaded

A few years ago, someone make the same question. Will need to search in the site.
Here it is one comment:

Also, there is another workaround of @EarnestAl.
And an enhancement request: tdf#142679.

I can change the cell background that appears when I’m entering data by setting:

Tools - LibreOffice - Application Colors - Document Background

However, this changes the background of the other nine sheets (pages? tabs?) that are part of the spreadsheet.

It seems having the background of the cell, when in Edit mode, transparent is not feasible. Is it possible, in a future release, to be able to set the background colour of the Edited cell separately from the colour of the Document Background? I.e an option like:

Tools - LibreOffice - Application Colors - Edited Cell Background

Feature requests

Set it to white.
