Changing cells in DATE function

I have an endless calendar where the months are determined by the DATE function. I can change the font, font size and colour directly in the spreadsheet, but cannot change the spelling of any of the months.
Presumably this is because it is determined by the system. Is there any way I can alter the spelling?

Change the Language at menu Format - Cells - Numbers tab.

The language has two different dialects with different spellings. The one I want is not in the system.

Then the answer is no, no such thing.

Out of interest: what dialect is that, and does it have a defined BCP 47 language tag, and if so which?

Yes, 33 ga, but it is the standardised version.

33 ga certainly is not a valid BCP 47 language tag. Whatever 33 might be, ga is the ISO 639-1 code for Irish. Nothing different than what there already is as Irish (Gaelic Ireland) with the language tag ga-IE.

For information about IETF BCP 47 language tags, see IETF language tag - Wikipedia and Language tags in HTML and XML .

Ok, from a different angle, what is the dialect you are asking for named?

It irow 33 in the ITEF table. The ITEF subtag is ga. The Unicode for Bh for example is in traditional Irish 1E02. This is how it was almost always printed prior to the 1950’s.
Anyway I have found a much easier - and possibly obvious - way to do what I want.

I didn’t have to change anything in the DATE function.
In the Portaid sheet I inserted rows below the month names, typed each month name in plain text, then hid the rows with the DATE function in them.
Note the changes - some consonants have a dot above them, a Ponc Séimithe. This softens the consonant. Nowadays the ponc has been replaced by a “h”, which is not actually in the Irish alphabet.
I’m attaching the new sheet in PDF to show the traditional Irish script.

Yeah, I see it - the last line of some months are missing. I’ll try and figure out what I’ve done in the morning. Too tired right now!

Dunno why the rows disappeared , but Instead of inserting a line below I inserted a line above and that worked OK.
