COLUMN Graph: Choose BOTH X and Y values

When I try to create a column graph with X and Y values, it uses both my columns as Y values. So I then try to select just my Y-values but I see no way to change the X values in any way. Searching “Libreoffice Calc change X values of Column chart” comes up with a lot of stuff about the X-Y scatter which actually has options for the X and Y values, but the Column chart type does not have those same options.

When double clicking the Y axis, the “scale” options lets me set up a range and steps, but when I do the same for the X axis, all I can do is reverse the direction and no other options are available.

Why is it so insanely difficult to do such a simple and straightforward task?

I am not an expert but it seems not possible to create the kind of chart that you want in Calc. There is a “stepped line” option for x-y scatter charts but unfortunately the values of the steps do not coincide with the y-values so even it would not be a substitute for the column chart that you seek.

What you want might be possible using the free R statistical analysis and graphing software at https://www.r-project.org/ but I know very little about it.
