Comment flag - how to change?

I recently updated Libreoffice to the latest version (24.8.2.1) and I now see that the little Comment flags in Calc, in the top right hand corner of the cells, has changed shape/colour from red square to grey triangle.

The new flag is difficult to see. Is there a way to format it? I was happy with it as it was before.

Thanks.

ReleaseNotes/24.8 - The Document Foundation Wiki :

Improvements to the comment indicator in Calc. Use the expert setting NoteIndicator with values above 1 to have a fix size for the indicator. (Heiko Tietze, TDF) tdf#158958

Thank you. I’ve played with those setting now. I changed the Comment Flag/Indicator colour to red, which worked fine.

I then played with changing the Flag/Indicator size - why is it called a Comment Flag/Indicator in one place and a Note Indicator in another? Anyway, I found that any setting I choose didn’t become effective until I saved the calc file and then expanded a column. Nothing changed until I expanded a column, at which all Indicators jumped to their adjusted size. Is this as expected?

I’ve set it to 6 and that suits me fine - It looks like it was before.

Thanks.

 And what you find named “comment” once and"note" in the other place is named “annotation” in the API. :crying_cat_face:
It seems to be nearly impossible to use one name for one thing - and only for that thing in IT. And surely it’s impossible to tidy up the mess.

Not a solution.

The grey color is nearly illegible on a white background. Maybe fine on black.

Why in blazes was the ability to change the color removed?

Can someone tell me where we find these settings? ‘Expert Setting Note Indicator’

I’m on a Macbook Pro and can’t see them anywhere in preferences.
Thanks

Type NoteIndicator without a space and start with a value of, say, 15 to be sure to see the effect.
(You may need to scroll the view to put the changed seeting in force.)

Type NoteIndicator without a space

Where am I supposed to be typing this?? Thanks

>Tools>Options>LibreOffice>Advanced>>Open Expert Configuration

Then type NoteIndicator into the Search bar. Hit Enter
I suppopse there will be exactly one match. DoubleCklick >>Enter new value.

Note that LibreOffice 25.2 has different appearance settings so it isn’t necessary to do workaround just to change the colour. Although you would still need to go to Expert Configuration to change the size of the indicator.

Click Tools - Options - LibreOffice - Appearance and change the colour for Calc Comment Indicator (I think, I’m not in front of computer).
This can only be done if the LibreOffice theme is not set to Automatic. Choose a preset theme and install it, allow LibreOffice to restart, then make the change.

So you have to translate the instructions

to your “preferences”
