Converting multiple tables

I have a large document that contains more than 100 tables and graphic files. I want to convert the tables to text but not erase the graphics. I’ve already tried copying “all” and pasting unformatted text. That erases the graphics. I have no knowledge of how macros work. This is a Mac, not a PC. Does anyone know how to do this?

Please be more specific. We already know you’re under MacOS (but which version?). Mention the exact LO release (with at least 4 components, like 25.8.4.2) and the type of the document (.odt, .doc, .docx or other?).

Make a copy of your document. Open the copy. Put the cursor inside one table. Does Table>Convert\>\Table to Text give your expected result?

If not, attach a 1- or 2-page sample (after eliminating private data) and describe clearly the final result.

Thanks for asking. Yes, I convert single tables routinely. But after highlighting the entire contents, that’s no longer possible.
The versions are:
Sequoia 15.7.3
LO .8.4.2
sample.odt (84.8 KB)

There should be a section of the file atached. Thanks again.

With a little help of the navigator (key F5), this should be a matter of minutes. Select table, convert to text, select next table, …

See this macro

With my 25.8.4.2 under Fedora 43, it is still possible after selecting entire contents.

I don’t know what you want to do with your document. IMHO, your first task should be to structure it with styling. Presently everything is Default Paragraph Style with direct format overlay.

If your document is not automatically generated or pasted from the internet, I feel you could change the layout for a more conventional one, getting rid of all tables (thus improving performance and stability).

In addition you should prepare all your images in Draw (which ships with LO; there is no extra installation) so that the reaction schema end up as a single image when inserted in Writer (giving another boost of performance).

Wow, it worked! Thanks.
Thanks too for the other folks who offered their advice.
