Corrupted .odt file - solution

Had a very odd experience. I saved a file as .odt. No problem. Saved other files after that, then shut everything down. Next day when I tried to open the file, I got the “corrupted file” message. Very distressing, as it was several hours’ work. Tried various tools to try and open it. No luck. And no idea as to what might have happened. Then, in a fit of original thinking, I simply thought… What if I change the filetype… So I just changed the .odt extension for .doc, and hey presto, the file opened.
So here we have a real problem, and a real solution
The original document started life elsewhere as a .docx file. I opened it in LibreOffice, worked on it, and saved it in native .odt format. LibreOffice stuck .odt at the end of the filename, and everything looked OK. In fact, what had happened is that LibreOffice (v 7.5.4.2 X86 Windows) had slapped on the .odt filetype ending, but saved the document in its original .doc / .docx format. No wonder I was unable to open it.
So there’s a useful solution for anyone else encountering this problem
