I’ve been using version 7.0.6.2 without problems. I upgraded to 7.3.4.2 and when trying to open a file the program closes. I then downgraded to version 7.2.7.2 and the same thing happens. Had no other choice that going back to the old 7.0.6.2 which works just fine. So my question is why the newer version crash upon trying to open a file.
Is it happened on Windows?
Try the portable version of the 7.3.4.2 and 7.2.7.2. If they works, then the issue with the permanently installed version is located in
- User profile (try to reset/delete it before you install a new version)
- Operation system settings (Dark theme, write rights, security softwares, graphical settings)
- etc…

First steps
I have Windows 7.
Thanks for taking the time to reply. I do not know what is KB3063858 nor where to look for it. From what I can tell my PC has Windows 7 Home Premiun Service Pack 1.
Thank you for all the replies. Unfortunately none solved the problem, nor explained why the newer versions don’t work, nor guided me within my limited knowledge as to how to correct the problem. So maybe someone can direct me to another source or site to obtain help.
Please test with a clean profile, Menu/Help/Restart in Safe Mode
I did a clean profile using the above instructions, reset to factory setting. LibreOffice still refuses to open any file and just stops working closes the program. Never had problems with the older version 7.0.6
