I need to create a connector line in Libreoffice Calc to connect two rectangles with an arrow. I found only a way to copy connector line from LibreOffice Draw, but is there any way to do this without copying? Why isn’t a connector line in figures menu in LibreOffice Calc?
Although LibreOffice is an integrated office suite (always the same main software is running), not all features are available in all of the applications (like the Calc, Writer, Draw, etc).
It’s a missing feature, tdf#79356.
Workaround tip:
Create a new Theme in the Gallery.
Create some Connection lines in the Draw aplication.
Copy-paste these Connection lines into the Calc application,
and then add those Connection lines to the Theme in the Draw application.
You can use the elements of the Gallery in the Calc application, too.
Do you want to say that it’s currently no way to add a connection line directly in Calc? And also why aren’t connection lines copied from Draw displayed in Navigator panel?
- Only the “disconnected” Connection lines are draggable into the Gallery from the Draw application.
- The Connection Lines has zero line width by default, therefore they are not visible in the Gallery. Use 0,1 cm line width before you drag the lines into the Gallery. Then the lines will be visible in the Gallery. Of course you can modify the line width after you dragging then from the Gallery into the Calc application.
I mean “Navigator” panel (compass icon in the right side of the screen), not Gallery. All figures are displayed here, but connection lines from Draw are not.
There is a parameter in the Draw application: “Show ALL objects”/“Show named objects only”. There is not such option in the Calc application. Only the named object are appeared in the Navigator. Workaround tip: add a name to the connection lines. It is possible in the Calc application:
From the context menu: Right click on the Connection line - Name
.
And this is possible in this way in both of the Calc and the Draw applications:
Select the Connection line - From main menu: Format - Name
Add a general name to the Connection lines before you drag them into the gallery: “Curve” or “Rectangular” or “Straight” or add any other name. The LibreOffice will modify the name (by numbering them) for unique names when you drag the lines from the Gallery into your document.
