How do I create aliases for Writer and Calc for my iMac desktop?
This is not currently possible, cf. the now 14 year old bug tdf#50278.
No workarounds possible?

(I don’t have a Mac, but I remember an install of ExifTool as perl-script on a Mac, so I guess the shell is well hidded but available…)
The proposed solution is indicated in Comment 15:
50278 – Provide separate dock icons for each component on macOS instead of or in addition to the global launcher aka make components single apps
Not impossible, but no one has gotten around to implementing it so that it becomes trivial for a user to just drag and drop to the Dock.
