I have a flat docx file with check boxes etc and text areas to fill in, obviously at this stage I would be required to print it out and fill in all items by hand. Is there a method by which LibreOffice Writer can recognise all of the fillable fields and and convert them to form fields direcly. Any help would be appreciated, if I have confused the matter please just ask and I will do my best to explain further
There is not an automated way for LibreOffice to recognise and insert form fields.
Why can’t you just type in the docx?
If you come to a checkbox, e.g. ☐ U+2610, you can click immediately after it and press Alt+X to show the Unicode number and then, increase it by 1 or 2, press Alt+X again to get the ticked, ☑
U+2611, or crossed, ☒ U+2612, box
Alternatively:
- If you have Adobe Reader, it will recognise probable fields in a pdf when you click Sign > Fill & Sign.
Click File > Export As > Export as PDF and open in Adobe Reader. - If you use another pdf reader, you might be able to enter text in a pdf using a typewriter tool or similar name.
