Create Mirror Text in Writer

I have been struggling (a long time) to convert several words as a mirror image so that I can print on transfer paper then attach to a T-Shirt.
Can someone give me detailed steps to do this?

Thanks

My tip: Use the Daw application for this task.

Other tip: many print drivers allow to print in various orientations and mirrors. If your driver can do it, just compose your text “as usual” and make the transformation at print time. This can be done in any application.

Please tell me how on Brother MFC-L3750 CDW. I’ve searched and tried every where.

I’m in Draw and it’s a little easier than Write, but does not allow Larger/Style text option like Write, and no option to mirror. I cannot pick a text size from a list, only incremental size changes - “Format - Text - Increase Size”.

You do need the Brother printer driver, see How do I configure my printer driver for Mirror or Reverse Printing? - Brother Canada . It should be in the Advanced tab of the Brother printer driver, click the Properties button just underneath the printer.

I have the most current software update. The instructions on your link (which I found before) do not match my printer driver options.

"4. Place a check in you desired option. Note: These options are not available when you choose Transparencies as the Media Type:

  • MIRROR PRINTING"

The above options in Advanced tab do not exist on my system.

Sorry, I didn’t read your manual, I assumed the link I gave would be enough. It is called Reverse print, see Print Settings (Windows) | DCP‑L3510CDW | DCP‑L3517CDW | DCP‑L3550CDW | MFC‑L3710CW | MFC‑L3730CDN | MFC‑L3750CDW | MFC‑L3770CDW

Mirroring a Writer page

You can export first single pages (where the cursor is located) of a Writer file into divers formats, also image formats like png.
When doing that you can upsize the resolution during export to - say - 300 dpi (in 2 steps). In Writer itself or in any image processing programmes it is easy to mirror an image (and later to use for transfer paper).
See attached screenshot and file.

Thanks for the reply Grantler, but I’m no further ahead. How did you get from text to mirror text in your screen shot? Why is there no “button” in Libre?

For your records:

You can export any page of a Writer document (where the cursor is located) into an image format this way:

  • menu File | Export… (Format e. g. PNG) :: Name | Export
  • paper size is A4 (or letter or other, depending on your default or chosen paper size)
  • click on ⊙ Modify resolution ↦ 300 pixels / inch (remember: Width 20,01 cm)
  • click on ⊙ Modify dimensions ↦ Width 20,01 cm (Height automatically follows)
  • OK

With these actions you have saved a PNG image of A4 in 300 dpi resolution.

In my sample file and in the screenshot I created a page 2 and imported the PNG image, spread it to full page size and mirrored it (right click image | Rotate or flip | Rotate Vertically).

No button for that, only “creativity”. :upside_down_face: HTH

I did everything in your last “how to”. I got nothing. Saved file in png could not be found. I still have the original .odt file with no option to mirror.

Thanks for the help but I’m out of this topic as I’ve spent too much time already being frustrated. I cannot believe Open Office cannot make this easy.
