Create new page styles

How do I create multiple page styles? I wish to have different sections with headers and footers only on the main text, not front and end matter.

I set up the document to the correct page size and margins (I want the same throughout) by selecting ‘user’ and making the changes. I can see I need to make a manual page change and select the correct style, but can’t find a way to set up more than one custom style.

Is your question about creating page styles or about how to switch from one style to the other in the document?

How do I insert a landscape formatted page in a document where other pages are portrait formatted?

This is just an example of the principle of changing page styles.
Instead of landscape format, you can also set other page styles.
The change is always made with a “Manual page break”.

@Hrbrgr: I’d suggest you change word “template” in your comment because it has a specific meaning in LO. Perhaps “properties”?

@ajlittoz , thank you. Although I know exactly, it happens to me again and again

It’s about being able to set up a second custom style, so I can change from one to another in the document.

Thanks. I can see how to change to an existing page style, and create one myself – but not how to create more than one, so I can use both within the same document.

I could do this in OpenOffice, but can’t see how to do it in Libre.

You create page styles just the same you create other styles like paragraph or character.

  1. display the style side pane if not already visible with F11 (except under MacOS where you must Styles>Manage Styles)
This is the same as pressing on the second icon from top in the rightmost toolbar, the one with a big “T”.
  2. click on the fourth icon from left in the style toolbar to show page style list
When you hover mouse over it, tooltip says “Page Styles”
  3. right-click anywhere in the list and New
  4. modify this new page style configuration as you like it

Ah! Thanks – that sounds very like the way I did it in OpenOffice. I’m on a Mac (sorry, should have said) so will see if I can find it…

Yes, that’s it! Thank you.
