Ctrl-B1 on embedded links does not open the correct URL

I’m using LibreOffice 7.5.0.3 on an Xubuntu 22.04.1 system

I have another unusual problem. I have a Word document (.doc or .docx) with embedded URL links. I open the document in Writer and then click Ctrl-B1 on the link. My browser opens with the correct URL, but it is always preceded by the file path of the first document opened by LibreOffice during the current session. This might be the path of the opened file, but it could be a completely different path of another previously opened file that is still active. For example, I open the file:

/u/jeff/zz_trip/itinerary.doc

And Ctrl-Click on a link. The Firefox browser opens and the URL is:

file:///u/jeff/zz_trip/https://www.easyjet.com/en/help/baggage/cabin-bag-and-hold-luggage

As I said, the file:/// path portion might be something else if I already have another document open.

I’m tired of having to constantly edit the URL line to get things to work. Any idea why this is happening and suggestions as to how I can stop it?

Thanks.

Is no one else seeing this? I have it happen 100% of the time. Is there possibly anything on my system outside LO that could be causing this?

I usually recommend to create a short document and upload it here. If it works for others, then we know, the problem is in your settings. But as you use MS-files (not recommended), it might also be a conversion problem…
.
One setting comes into mind however: Absolute or relative path:

Wanderer:

Thanks for the tip. I just unchecked “Save URLs relative to file system” and will monitor LO to see if this has any effect on its operation.
