Currrency settings

Good day all All,

I am new to the LibreOffice forums and i am from Brunei. I would like to ask some question.

  1. Is the Brunei Currency going to be added in the list ?

  2. Why are there 2 Malaysian Currency English and Malay ?

  3. Why the singapore currency it says chinese ? Brunei currecy is peg with Singapore.

i am only allow to post 1 embeded media.

0 media should also be enough in most cases.
An attached example (.ods Calc file) would probably tell more.

I’m not sufficiently informed to be able to directly answer your questions, but the attached Calc file has a few general hints which may be helpful.

Just a guess about duplication of currencies.

What is important is the ISO currency code, e.g. MYR or EUR. What follows in the list is a language variant.

Taking the case of EUR, you see the code remain EUR all over the various languages used in the area. I suppose this is done to avoid spellcheck tagging within you adopted a specific language for the rest of the document (spreadsheet, text, presentation, …).

Most document in Malaysia are probably written either in Malay as intercommunication language or English. Other local languages are not taken into consideration.

I filed enhancement request 171919 – Add Brunei Dollar to availlable currencies
