I have a functioning pivot table. When I click on the down arrow in the Pivot Table Date category and select Custom Sort - Jan, Feb, Mar… nothing happens. I tried deleting and recreating the Pivot Table and I tried updating my LibreOffice version to 7.4.6.2 without effect. I’m a very low-tech person and it won’t surprise me to find out that I’ve omitted or mistaken something. Thanks in advance for any help.

Thank you for responding to my question. My pivot table allowed Custom Sort for over a year. Then Custom Sort abruptly ceased working. I didn’t coincidentally update versions at the time it ceased working. I’m not comfortable attaching the document because it’s all sensitive data. (Sensitive to me, anyway.) Are there generally known problems with Custom Sort that you can address without the file being attached?
Why do you believe that everybody here knows every single problem with LibreOffice? Why do we have to generate new data sets to evaluate every single problem posted here? You have your own data set that consists of completely unknown data types in a completely unknown table structure. Opening your demo file would show us the exact problem within seconds.

First column has month names (text), second column has values (decimal numbers).
Problem: text is sorted alphabetically.
Solution: generate a column of dates and use that for the pivot table. Then group the pivot by months.
The most common problem is users importing dates as text without noticing. Then sorting fails (often).

Without data from your side you can also try safe-mode, in case your profile contains funny settings.

Place to look for bugs is bugzilla. Search for custom-sort or pivot-table.
This is what “custom sort orders” try to solve, so lists of text values such as Jan, Feb, Mar, Apr etc. do not sort alphabetically. It looks as if a pivot table does not recognize the lists that are defined under Tools>Options>Calc>Sort Lists.
