Custom tooltip for table cells in LO writer?

Hello,

I’m trying to create a form using a table. Some table cells contain a prompt for information to be entered in another cell. Now, I want to display a custom tooltip with some more explanation of what is expected to be entered when the user hovers over the cell with the prompt.

Is this even possible? Google wasn’t helpful, the LO help web page wasn’t helpful, the wiki wasn’t helpful, and I didn’t find anything on reddit. However, I did find something in these forums, unfortunately that information was for LO calc.

Does anyone know how to achieve this? I don’t need anything fancy, I just want to display some text on hover over a specific cell. That being said, there are various cells in my table which need such information and it’s different in each case.

You can use labels for your prompts. Insert them in the table, give them a proper name (Label in form elements jargon), and add extra information in the Help text field, far down in the list of form element properties, that will automatically pop up when the mouse moves over the label.
