In the current version of LibreOfffice – 26.2.5.2 – Calc won’t accept dates in the way that it always has. It used to be that entering “Aug 3” in a date field and pressing the Enter key would automatically add the current year to the date, i.e.: “Aug 3 2026”. As of this release, entering “Aug 3” yields “Aug 1 2003”. I have checked this across several spreadsheets that I have been maintaining for years.and the problem is everywhere.
Have you checked your date acceptance patterns?
What locale do you use?

Many thanks for your reply. Your “check locale” suggestion was spot on.
Several days ago I changed the English for my spelling checker in Writer from English USA to English UK. I thought I was doing so only for that document (notes I was taking on Evelyn Waugh’s autobiography) and only for the spelling checker. But somehow I seem to have changed things more broadly, somehow the change was made in Calc too. I shall be more careful in the future.
Thanks again Wanderer.
