Date format changes everytime i load spreadsheet

The new updates seem to have broken the date format. I change all the dates to 1999-12-31 format and save the file. Next time i load it, they’ve all changed back to something like xx/xx/xx.
Edit: Also, i used to be able to type something like “2-1” and it would automatically change that to “2023-02-01”. Now it just stays “2-1”.

When I booted the other PC to get the above info, it told me there is a Java update available. I installed that, and now the first part of my problem seems to have gone away. Is it really possible that a Java update fixed that?

The second part of problem persists. I typed “2-7” into a cell formatted for date 1999-12-31 and I just got “2-7”. One sheet of spreadsheet attached.

Looks like your locale changed (to maybe en-US). Either the system or desktop environment locale and that is inherited by LibreOffice using the Default - English (USA) locale, or it is fixed to one, e.g. English (USA); under Tools → Options → Language Settings → Languages, Formats, Locale setting.

Wildly guessing, I suspect you need to set Locale back to Canada

Yes! That fixed it. Thank you.
