Versions and distros tested:
LibreOffice 26.2.0.3 620(Build:3) - Void Linux
LibreOffice 25.2.7.2 520(Build:2) - Gentoo Linux
Same results on both.
I have this AutoText of fixed time and date that I’d like to use for journaling purposes. However, when I open a new instance of writer; the AutoText shortcut for it is unusable until I open the AutoText menu seen in the screenshot. Simply opening the menu and closing it is enough to get the shortcut working for as long as the session is open. I have another test AutoText that only does simple “Test” text insertion and the shortcut for it works just fine when I open a new session; no menu opening & closing required.
Perhaps I’m asking for something that isn’t a feature in Writer? Although it is actually 90% of the way there with inserting the current time and date in the formats I need; its just the shortcut not working upon opening the menu is annoying and time consuming. I tried doing macros that supposedly “loads the menu and closes it in the background”, messing with configs, “fixing” paths - all to no avail (with the “help” of google’s gemini LLM - that conversation got me absolutely nowhere).
If you have something that directly fixes my AutoText struggles that’d be cool, but I’m also all ears if you have another suggestion for me to conveniently insert current time & date in a very quick and simple manner that may not necessarily rely on AutoText. Appreciate any and all comments!
