Delete blank page that used to be part of a table

I have a file that is entirely one table that originally extended over two pages.

I want only one page.

I have deleted the columns/rows from the table but I cannot remove the second (empty) page.

I have tried:

1. backspace,delete over the first character of the empty page
2. Ctl-Delete at first of second page and last of first page.

Sometimes a table needs a paragraph after it. Is there room below the table for a paragraph mark?
