Yes, @LeroyG. It’s Discourse’s default formatting, which, strangely, has been overridden by whoever administrates this instance. (Although obviously not within the editor, so it’s half-hearted at best.)
If it concerns you enough to make a small extra effort you can use <br> in comments to force a line break.
